Well it has been a slow lazy day…a little cleaning, a little rearranging, a little long overdue organizing (I have been for months wanting on getting my leos listed in Degei for the clutch records alone) and I even found sometime to catch up on some forum reading…I am always caught up here I am referring to the few of the ‘others’ that are out there…

I have to say that I am depressed with what I am reading!!! People complaining about this or that guy screwed me, my stock is overpriced and I am in the hole, oh woe is me the ban is going to ruin everything, etc…

I may not be the sharpest crayon in the box but is there an entire group of people out there willing to just send money to anyone who has some rinky dink website or can figure out how pay a couple dollars to put up an ad? I work by trust alone…talking to the person or going on recommendations. I will trust someone 100% until I get the short end of the stick then it is done, finished and no other business will be done…normally it is some low end thing first to test the waters and if all is well go from there. We are all grown ups, well most of us and if you can’t figure out how to do your homework before you buy something don’t go around complaining about it after the fact…research before not after…

Okay when did people become millionaires breeding animals that do what they want when they want? These animals have been doing this for a lot longer than we have kept them so to expect immediate reward is just ignorant to me…you can hope and pray but when it comes down to it you can only set the conditions that are within your ability and cross your fingers…so to go into it with a money making attitude is just asking for some trouble….sure we all want to hatch out the next 100K snake or lizard and making some return is a good thing…I am happier seeing my reptiles go to a good home more than making a profit because unless I increase my collection 10 fold chances are I won’t see a profit worth enough to write home about…maybe I am looking at this wrong or maybe that may difference between the hobbyist and the businessman…

Let me say a few words on the ban…I have written my letter and will be in the mail on Monday morning…The ban is a proposal set up fishing for information from businesses, wholesale/retail information, amount of annual sales, quantity of discussed species being kept by the businesses and it is also fishing for information by different state run agencies on total costs to eradicate the species ‘if found’, what type of native species will be impacted by the species introduction, etc…no where does it want the hobbyist’s exact information…It does however solicit public comments which is where we come in…We need to send letters of some to let them know that we are out there…the public that buys these animals, pays our taxes and is just plain outraged at the possibility…every person will count!!!

That is my weekend rant....LOL
